"What I like the most about your class is the quiet, the peacefulness. And the way I feel when I am done, as though I used and engaged every muscle."

Welcome to Ocean Spirit Yoga
Located Directly Above the Portsmouth Health Food
Ocean Spirit Yoga was founded in December of 2004 by Co-owners Lily Sibley and Bob Vaccaro. It was the intention of Lily and Bob to create a space where every person, regardless of body type, age, ability or experience, could come to appreciate the practice of yoga. The first thing that people notice when they walk in the door is that they are welcome! The studio is warm, inviting, and spacious. Shoes and judgment are slid beneath a long and inviting wooden bench constructed from recycled wood that surely must hold many stories!
You are invited to come to Ocean Spirit Yoga as a first time student, as a long practicing student, or to renew your long ago commitment to your health and well being. Whatever your age or physical ability, if you have an open heart and a willing mind, we encourage you to experience the healing and life-enhancing benefits of a daily yoga practice at Ocean Spirit Yoga. Ongoing classes are offered for early morning, mid-day, and evening practice allowing you to find the time of day best suited to your needs.
Drawing
from Anusaura, Ashtanga,
Integral, Iyengar,
and Kripalu yoga
traditions, our classes
provide
a balanced workout
and meditative breathing
practice with these
intentions: unlock
your body's natural
healing energy, strengthen
and release tensions
in your muscles,
safely increase your
flexibility,
massage your internal
organs, calm your
mind and nurture your
spirit.
Bob’s classes focus on Yoga Therapy Movement, allowing the student to find a level of practice that most benefits and supports their yoga practice. Lily’s
classes include a
balance of Hatha
Yoga to include
postures, breathing,
meditation and personal
growth.
It was a vision of Lily and Bob that OSY would become a place of community where in addition to the 26 weekly yoga classes there
would be an opportunity for
workshops that include diverse
ranges of interest. The workshops
to date have included Sound
Healing Therapies, Tai Chi,
QiQong, Dahn Hak (Korean)
Yoga, Reiki Healing Circles,
Drumming, Meditation, Solstice
Ceremony, Chakra Balancing,
study of Pantanjali’s
Eight-Limbed Path of Yoga,
and Silent Day Retreats.
Beginning in August 2006 there will be a Classical Yoga Teacher Training Program at Ocean Spirit. To read about current offerings
please visit our Events page. If your organization is looking for a beautiful space to hold a workshop, please contact the studio for information.
