Yoga Teacher Training Level I (200 hours)
This one-year program is for serious Yoga students who are interested in deepening their personal understanding and practice of Classical Yoga, and would like to join a strong Yoga community. Half of the participants go on to teach, while the other half join to expand their personal sadhana (practice). It is a personalized program including:
- One-to-one mentoring;
- Monthly seminars covering Yoga technique, teaching methodology, anatomy and physiology, philosophy, and practicum opportunities (note: teaching is not a requirement of the program);
- Understanding and practice of Classical Yoga, including Hatha (physical), Raja (meditation), Karma (work and actions), Bhakti (love and devotion) and Jnana (knowledge and wisdom);
- Understanding and practice of the 8-Fold Path of Yoga: daily observances and restraints (yama and niyama), Yoga postures (asana), breathing (pranayama), sensory mastery (pratyahara), concentration (dharana), meditation (dhyana) and cognitive absorption/higher consciousness (samadhi).
- Retreats and other optional monthly workshops.
This program is approved by the Yoga Institute of Mumbai, India, to train instructors and promote a unique system of teaching Yoga philosophy. Classical texts such as the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads are utilized, with interpretations to suit a western culture when appropriate. We believe that those individuals who live their Yoga make the best Yoga instructors.
